How Much Does it Cost to Travel Cambodia With Kids?
This is a summary of costs for 15 days traveling through Cambodia by bus and tuk-tuk with our family of 4 including all airfare, transportation, accommodations, excursions, food, groceries and everything down to a stick of gum.

What would this trip cost today?
We took this trip in February 2015. US prices have risen about 44% since then, so inflation alone would turn our $2,039 into roughly $2,930. But Cambodia didn’t move in lockstep. Here’s what the same things cost in 2026 for a family of four (two adults, two kids under 12).

The bottom line: the big tourist tickets went up (Angkor passes nearly doubled for adults), but everyday travel stayed cheap. Visas, buses, tuk-tuks and many hotels cost about what we paid, or less. A family traveling like we did should budget roughly $150–200 a day in 2026.
2026 prices checked in October 2026 from operator and booking sites (Phare Circus, Elephant Valley Project, Giant Ibis via 12Go, Hotels.com) and recent travel guides. Some figures are estimates; always confirm before you book. US dollars are still widely used in Cambodia, and small change comes back in riel.

We had an amazing adventure. Truly the highlight of my 38 years of life! Places like Cambodia and Vietnam can be explored on even a tighter budget and are an amazing value. Malaysia was also spectacularly beautiful, this caught me off guard. I wish you and your family wonderful travels!
